I have CPS Gold. I've saved an average of 15% on lens purchases and 20% on cameras. Over the past three years, I figure the total savings has been about $6200 (incl. reduction in HST), on 1DX, 1DIV, 500/4L IS, 70-200/2.8L IS II, TS-E 24/2.5L II, 50/1.2L, 100-400L, and Mk III Extenders. Gold membership costs $115 per year, incl. HST.
In addition, you get flat rate lens repairs. I would guess that it's about $350 for the TS-E 17L. They'll tell you if you ask. For the knob repair, that's probably not a great price. If you dropped it and it broke in half, the repair would cost the same.
You have to be a full time pro shooter to be a Platinum member, and you have to prove it with receipts or a letter from your employer. As a platimum member, you can get frequent loaners of really expensive gear, and maybe slightly faster service than Gold. Otherwise, Gold is just that, gold!
