Not according to Canon or the specs: AF to -2EV for both.

Ok, good to know. I used my 5D3 to shoot gymnastics tonight in a gym with cycling lights at 6400 ISO, F2, 640 (135L and 85 1.8) and the camera took a bit to lock on but once it did held focus well. I wondered how the 1Dx might do under the same conditions.

There's one other reason the 1D X focuses faster - it has a higher voltage battery, and can drive the focus motor harder.

Does the 5D III have any advantages over the 1DX other than the price?

22MP, smaller, lighter and not much else. 1D X has all the fruit and then some. If it were even 22MP I might consider one despite the price.

I believe it has a noticeably quieter shutter in silent mode. That can be a big plus for people who shoot events and weddings.

Yes! I shot with it in a recording studio, and in a school performance right next to a video mic, and it could not be heard. It's fantastically quiet.

And also silient burst mode too. The 1Dx doesn't have this.
