I suppose Canon has put a proper shielding in their cameras since they have to go through security like Xray at the airport and that wand people use to find metal object on you. Chances are that most users won't own that same camera 3 years from now. Cameras yes, filters are reusable and lasts longer. I am using most of my BW filters for over 5 years already. The adhesive is a greater concern. ----------- Soft iron magnets can lose their magnetism fairly quickly but these are probably rare earth and those are quite stable for decades.
