Hi FMers

Does anyone have the problem with Canon 580 EX II fails to trigger Canon 430EX as slave.
I had it work previously and it just fails recently.

Here is my equipment:
1 - Canon 580 EX 2
2 - Canon 430 EX

And here is my setup indoor:
- Canon 580 EX 2 as Master with Channel 1
- Canon 430 EX as Slave with Channel 1. Group A
- 2 flashes were place 2 feet apart. 580 EX2 Flash head turns toward the 430EX's receiver.
- Pressing Pilot button on 580 EX II and I can see the 580 EX II flashes once, 430EX flashes (triggered) after that. Try again, 580EX II flashes but 430 EX doesn't. Try few times with 1 second or 2 seconds pause between the test. 430EX is triggered intermittently.

I did try with new set of AA batteries on both flashes but still see the problem.
I borrowed another Canon 580EX II from my friend and repeat the procedure and my 430 EX is triggered correctly 10 out of 10.

Note: My 580 EX 2 were triggered properly when it was set to Slave.

I am glad to see if someone knows what's going on with my 580 EX 2. Thanks.

I would start my troubleshooting by moving the flashes a litte further apart, setting the 430 to manual mode, and turn the power all the way down. Also, make sure the 430s wireless sensor (red vertical widow right below the head) is pointing toward the master flash head and is not in the head's shadow.

Try waiting 10 seconds or so between triggering the master.
