Started off a very foggy morning, lots of dew on all the spider webs hung in the fields, really a refreshing feel as it has been a hot dry dry dry summer around here. Out to the local haunt for what ever shows up and what ever I may find.
From todays outing a nice encounter with this Painted Lady...............
Someone said they were expecting something more colorful from me than my first post...............Khai

Oh yeah, liking these Karl. Great detail, dof and gorgwah background. I guess the only nit and it is a personal preference nit I would have is the very oof flowers in the front left of the first ones...maybe a touch distracting since there are no others to that extreme...but other than crop them out or clone in other buds not sure what to do...

That's a pretty little butterfly Karl, all these shots are sharp and colourful. My chose of compositions are the straight-on look and the side, wings up view. Nice to see you back.
Look at you Mr Steadyhands!!! Darn impressive buddy, 1/320 at 400 and no IS. Super techs on these, they are all sharp as a tack I love the comp of 2, that was a gift nature gave you and you had a sharp enough eye to see it I think 3 would be a stunner if the dingleberries on the left were not there but then again it's nature. The closing shot is marvelous, that baby has it all.
All of these are tack sharp where they need to be Karl. I love the stare in 1, the angle in 3, but 4 is my pick for the great detail. And, of course, all have very nice comps ~ Ron
Very nice images Karl. I too like #4. A classic look that shows off shape and color. My question would be, how the heck do you hold the camera steady enough at 1/320 to shoot them? Well done sir.

I have a 'one-legged- helper to hold it steady enough
And thank you kindly sir for your pick!
Karl
Nice vantage points and cool combo of colorful flora and fauna! A delight! Might take some work to remove but that OOF bud in the lower part of #1 is just buggin' me! I tried cropping it out but the butter was then a bit cramped!

I was hoping the eyes were enough pull to really not see that area unless you unlock from the eyes. If you are seeing the OOF flowers first then I did not accomplish what I had hoped/ You and Eric
Thanks for speaking out so here is an edit for you and Eric and Tim and anyone else that now is seeing what you guys pointed out
Selected what I did not want to mess up, reversed selection, cloned out then I cloned over parts of a sharper flower and bud base to blot over the OOF bud that was dead center in front of the sharp one. A quick edit, could refine it more................bud base from under the left rear foot and little flower parts from that larger sharp full flower bottom of frame slightly right.
