Is spam pretty much fact of life? Right now if there is an email addressed to my domain and the username does not exist, it is sent to me. Everyday I get so many spams addressed to some random username with my domain. I also received bunch of automatic reply AND mail delivery failed emails because the spam bot also use my domain as a sender. How do you stop this? 99.9% of them are automatically moved by gmail (google rocks!) to spam folder, but it is still annoying. What do you guys do to minimize this? I really dont want people to get emails from my domain regarding viagra.
Robin, I've had a bunch of this stuff recently. No idea why they would spoof a business email address unless they are trying to get past spam blockers. I contacted my domain name host that provides my email service and was told the emails are not coming from my email service, the return address is being spoofed.
They didn't have a recommendation to fix the issue.
It does seem to have slowed down after several weeks.
I won't turn off the catchall email forwarding simply because I don't want to miss an email from a potential client just because they mis-type the email address...
This happen to me too. So I deleted my email address on my host provider, because my email is google apps. I also changed my hosting passwords to be safe.
I just started with this today. I have received about 30 "open job positions" today, all from my address that they are mailing it to. so basically from me, to me. I know they are spoofing it but it is very annoying haha. Keep us posted ona fix.
