I went to another flag football game, used 300mm lens this time and cropped.

1.

2.

3.

I know that color is off, I was focusing on framing / cropping... better than first one? or the same? or worse?

Thank you.

Much better but the only keeper in this set for me is the first one,

# 2 is mostly backs and #3 is after the action.

Shane,

But this is the way I should crop though right?

I think the crops are much better, than your first try. The sharpest photo is #2 and that has the action going away, which seldom makes a good photo (backs of heads).

I do see improvement and sports photography definitely takes practice to produce good photos. Most of us are still learning, so keep shooting and posting.

Most are underexposed and the not too keen on the crop ratio as they are mostly square. They should be vertical or horizontal.

I'm not familiar with the first set, so I can't comment on the level of improvement. As far as framing and cropping, I'd say you're fine there, but as others have mentioned, exposure, sharpness, and color need improvement. I would guess some experience in post processing would help these.
