It seems as though LR 3.6 does not support the T4i. Is there a work around or must I upgrade to LR 4?

You can download whatever DNG converter supports the T4i, convert your raw files to DNGs and then open those with LR 3.6. Completely free. No upgrade necessary.

It is worth the upgrade price for the improvements, from my perspective.
