p.1 #1 · Sigma 50-500 OS, 150-500 OS focus speed?

Are there any major focusing speed differences between the 150-500 and the 50-500 OS HSM lenses? I like to go to an airshow or two every year and I occasionally shoot sports for friends etc where it would be nice to have something with big reach, but its not worth it if I can't get something with decent focus performance. I tried a 80-400 nikon and wasn't pleased with it. If the Sigmas aren't a much better option I may opt for a 300 f4 AF-S and my TC14. Also a bonus would be a relative comparison to a 70-200 VR1 on a TC14 and the 80-400 since I know those lenses performance.

Having used the 50-500 OS, the image quality is quite good even at 500mm.
Compared to the 300 f4+ 1.4 tc on a D3, the focusing speed was slower.

go for the 300mm f/4 and tc. The 50-500mm is good and you might try renting it . the biggest problems is lack of vr on the 300mm
