I'm seeing Epson and Canon 24" pigment printers going for $1500 and $2,000 on ebay. And no bidders! Why are these used ones with apparently no use going for so little and no takers at more than 50% off retail? what am I missing?

I would like to get one of these, but with no bidders at "buy me now" prices at less than 50% from new price, I hesitate. I know I'm missing something.

Sounds totally credible to me. With the current rebates, the Epson 7900, for example, can be bought new for $2.5k including shipping.

New ipf 6350 can be had for $2300 after rebate and trade in and ipf6300 for $2100 so used prices have to go down to compete. Close to the cost of the ink alone so the printer is almost free

Hi Phil,

Canon Japan already announced new iPF printers, the iPF 6400, 6450, 8400 and the 9400.

The announcement date for USA and Europe is expected to be 12 September. Check out the thread on this topic on the Luminous Landscape site, where Scott Martin gives valuable insights into these new printers.

Here is the link: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?topic=69961.0

Anyway, I would suggest waiting till around the Photokina. You never know whether Epson will make an announcement as well - I have read on one site that Epson might make an announcement for their large format printers with availability in 2013, but I have no idea how credible that information is.

cheers,
Remko
