I find that hard to believe as one lens is F1.4 and the other is F2.8.
Who buys a F1.4 to use it from f2.8 forward....compare it to the 35f2 then.
It is true and I said it is slower lens, but how many of your shots with 35L is made with F1.4?
I sold two of them because of softness on 1D body as well. This new small lens is no doubt very sharp and not worse than L on colors and contrast.

50L, because once you get that, you won't even remember the 35L........But, instead of the 35/2, I'd grab the 28/1.8.....it's IQ, USM and build are better than the 35/2

+50%...and no problem here on the 1DIII either. While the focal length is similar there is a HUGE difference between f/1.4 and f/2.8.
Since you are back with your favorite topic about 35L I would tell you again - no dobt 35L is better lens than cheap 40mm, but I found my 24LII is better lens and sold 35L second time and if I need I could use cheap 40mm to cover focal I am missing or crop 24mm to 35mm with great results.
About focusing, I remember posting tons of links related to 1D body 35L focusing softness issue and I wouldn't repeat them. Anyone could google these days about people changing MA for 35L to the max to make it sharp on 1D3....
