I was asked for the original - here are two, unadorned, for your use...

I like the first one better than any of the monochromes shown. Maybe cropped a bit. In this color version, the fur on the body has texture and detail that was lost in the monochrome versions.

The second image is very nice, but the white stuff has to go and that cut around the ear is a job I would rather not take. In addition to getting a clean crop of the ear, you would then need to invent some background. Te bricks are OOF and you would need to match that degree and alignment of pattern etc.

The left white leg could simply be cropped out. But you need the ear.

The face of the second cat is better for me than the first.

Rusty, your mask skills far exceed mine. Very impressive.

Thanks Ben ... but not that impressive really. Just a twist & slide on a duplicate layer, then paint on the masks to block/reveal the pieces ... i.e. no cut & paste.

It kinda "just happened" while I was rotating to explore a different crop angle.

In 2011, I decided to commit an effort (thanks largely to Karen's contributions here) to learn layers and it was very foreign / anti-intuitive thing. I've kinda stalled with my progression of more advanced utilization, but I can say that I'm at least comfortable now with a few things @ layers. I just wish I could be a bit less convoluted in my approach and better at explaining it to share as Karen (et al) has.

Layers are your friends. So are selections.
