p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · I'm stoked!

No one probably cares, but I am stoked! I ordered a used 5D mk II yesterday.

I enetered photography with a clunky Sigma SD9 in 2004, which I soon sold off and moved to a 10D. And years later I bought another 10D. For the past year or so I've only had 1 40D I've been using. And then yesterday, the stars aligned and I have a 5DmkII on its way.

Now I just need to unload some crop lenses....

10D to 40D to 5D2...sound like a proper advancement. Enjoy!

It is the best deal out there to go to full frame currently. The 5D II is a great camera, I own now two of them, and the IQ is just great. Minor drawback is the crippled AF system, but depending on your interests in style of taking photos it might be not a big concern. I think a lot of people were and are currently upgrading from APS-C to full frame by getting a 5D II.

I shoot outdoor portraiture, landscapes, and still life.

I was planning on keeping my 40D, but now I'm considering offloading that and picking up an original 5D as a second body.

the 5D2 is a wonderful camera. You will love the resolution and colors from it.
People complain about the focus but I don't have problems with that.
If you can afford the 24-105L lens, it's a great for a "walk around lens"
I use it on vacation because it draws less attention than the 1D4 and 24-70mm L lens.

The eagle has landed!

It came in the mail today. I've been taking shots around the house, and just getting used to handling it. The interface is not much different than my 40D.

Is there anything you would recommend me setting one way or another?

Take it off of "P" and have fun. It's a great camera. Hopefully you have some great GLASS to put on it.

I'm shooting with my trusty ole 100mm macro I've had for 8 years. It is the one piece of gear I've owned the longest. I love it. I also have a 17-40 and 85 1.8 on the way.

Next question..... I came across color space in the menu. Without starting a whole discussion about color space, where does it make most sense to be, Adobe RGB, or sRGB? These are the only to options.

Thanks!

I think color space only impacts the JPEG images, not the raw. Adobe RGB is a larger color space than sRGB. Adobe RGB images will begin with an underscore (_MG_0001) whereas the sRGB fle names will be IMG_0001.
