Just ordered it via Amazon Prime @ $186.95. Had to contact amazon cust supp for a special link, if the listing is not sold by amazon directly, ie. another vendor the code will not work.
Justin, thanks for the heads-up, never thought I'd get CS6 under $200...way cool
I'm a newbie to Photoshop, only use Lightroom for minor tweaks...this is gonna be fun!
Now, HELP, what's the best book to learn CS6?
I called Amazon to see if they were able to send me the offer. The gal I talked to stated they had a department that dealt with their deals and she would put a request for me to receive the same offer, but cannot guarantee that they would approve or not. I figure it was worth a shot. We'll see if anyone responds to me.
By the way, were all the folks from FM that received this email Prime members by chance?

This is like giving away free samples of crack! You're about to become addicted. I got a similar deal back in the day. I bought a scanner 10 years ago that came bundled with a copy of PS Elements and an offer for a full version of PS CS (or maybe CS2) at upgrade prices. I've been hooked on Photoshop (and the upgrade treadmill) ever since.

For a book, check anything by Martin Evening.
Became a crack tog whore when I looked through the viewfinder of my 1st 35mm rangefinder back in 1970 and have been mainlining ever since What's one more bit of kit anyway! And thanks, looked up ME's books, they look great, probably will pickup his CS6 and Lightroom 4 books...
Please let us know if Amazon grants your phone request for the discount.
I've tried placing CS6 in the shopping cart and then "saving for later", as well as placing it in my wish list. So far, no luck getting the discount offer.
I just got an email from Amazon titled Photoshop CS6. Opened it up and it was just one of the "since you have shown interest, please see these products" emails that did not offer any discounts. I'm not sure that this would have been from the department the gal spoke about on the phone.
I just got an email from Adobe offering $400 off through them for current Elements users. But it's not as good as the Amazon offer, because of their already discounted price. With this offer it would cost $299.
I received the $400 off Photoshop CS6 offer from Amazon because I had bought Photoshop Elements 10 from Amazon previously. I also have Amazon Prime guest membership (not sure if that had anything to do with receiving the offer).
I'm back in Australia now, and I'm thinking of upgrading to CS6 via this offer. Amazon will not ship software out of the U.S., although I can order it and have sent to a friend in the U.S. who will then forward it to me. I'm not sure if that will present any problems regarding registration, etc.
An alternative is to purchase the download, but I much prefer to have physical product for backups and re-sale.
I also purchased Elements 10 a few months back and I am a prime member. also when I spoke with cust supp they would not honor the $400 coupon/discount on the download product, you must purchase the boxed/disk product....I was told! They sent me a link via their online chat, I clicked and all worked, seems it will be here on Thursday...

Why such a discount? Is version 7 due soon?

There are rumors Apple is producing a "Photoshop Like" application. This leads me to believe it may be available soon at a much lower price than Photoshop. Adobe must have caught wind of it and is trying to capture some of those sales before the Apple product is released.

I didn't know that Apple made software for Windows, but I don't follow that industry. I'M not too confident that compatibility of various psd, etc. files would be up to par with a new app.
Based on the information in those links, the rumored program from Apple looks much more like a drawing program than a photo processing program. Still, pretty intriguing...
I received an email from Adorama stating that I will be getting the $400 off CS6 offer next week in another email. I had to purchase a copy of Elements 10 to get it, but I will just sell it and take a small loss on it. Looking forward to it!

There's no reason that raster and vector capabilities have to be confined / relegated to discrete software packages other than Adobe has forced that convention on its customers. Apple could torpedo both Photoshop and Illustrator with one app.
