thanks, Eric. it was low tide, of course, and seaweed was spread all over in different patterns. lots of fun to shoot in IR, as you are never sure what the image will look like.

Charlie - being a land-lubber, I know nothing about seaweed and kelp. but it was a very dark red and looked very shootable.

Tom- my choice of words was careless. I too am a landlubber. I just like kelp. But not to eat- no matter how healthy some of it is (I ate some in Japan ).
Kelp IS a type of seaweed, often including large, broad "leaves," and rounded air sacs that keep it afloat.

sandy beaches are as close as I get, unless a wave catches be asleep at the camera viewer (which has happened!).
