p.1 #1 · ZE 35mm 1.4--- Lens Hood won't fit on lens! Help!

Today, for some reason, as I was taking pictures, my lens hood suddenly popped off, and it won't go back on. I have no idea why this is happening, but I don't like it! Today was an unnaturally hot day, and my camera once even had the warning for overheating, so perhaps that had something to do with my lens hood troubles. Someone please help!

EDIT: Just a clarification- I don't mean the hood wont fit the lens, as it does. What I do mean is that I can't turn it, so that I may 'click' the hood in place. The hood simply doesn't turn, like something is blocking its path.

I would guess you turn the hood the wrong way

or attach it wrong. If something is blocking it's path you would see that if looking at it.
My cameras also get get the overheat warning when shooting in Live View for a long time. Normally I just turn it off for a couple of minutes then it's ok again

The Zeiss hood has a metallic spring that can get loose. I had this problem with a brand new lens, as the hood would fit in, but wouldn't turn. It was replaced by Zeiss under warranty.
