What is the correct way of mounting an umbrella into a studio strobe? By correct I mean should the umbrella be extended out as far from the reflector as the umbrella shaft will allow? Or should the Reflector be lined up with the edge of the umbrella?

You fit a spill-kill reflector and use the modelling light to see when the light doesn't spill beyond the umbrella canopy.
