Focus Pyramid?

p.1 #1 · Focus Pyramid?

Has anyone used Focus Pyramid for focus calibration? At a little over $20, it seems like a more affordable option compared to Lensalign and Lenscal.

I've never used Focus Pyramid but I don't understand how a slanted target can be used to accurately calibrate auto focus. All the literature that I've read states that the AF target has to be perfectly perpendicular at the auto focus plane for accuracy, NOT at an angle as in the Focus Pyramid.

It must be focused on the bottom face of the pyramid.

+1 You'll never get consistent results from an angled target.
