I think isolating him more might help, the 3/4 length individuals to the left of the frame add nothing. Perhaps a portrait crop might do it just up to the edge of those figures. I would leave the small people in the background though.

Ken has a good point, but I actually think that the older people create more of a storyline. We can imagine that the little boy is on the sidelines watching older boys play.
