Jason, I would look to filtering to help differentiate the buildings from the surrounding forest and also increase contrast.

Thanks for the comments Charles and Douglas.

This photo was from China, in the hunan province. In an area called "Heaven's door" mountain. Its a 1000 steps to reach the top of a natural opening (well rock slide i guess) in the mountain top.

I've upped the contrast and played with curves a bit. What do you guys think?

IMO it's much better with your change, Jason.
Below I went a step further (just to offer a contrasting opinion

).
I lassoed everything above the near ridge and applied 15% additional contrast. Then I did a little overall sharpening.
Not much different, and certainly not necessarily any better.
Whaddaya think?
