am thinking of buying the Sigma 120-300 f2.8 - anyone have any experience with this lens ? Just wondering what corrections I would need to make on the 1DX for a none Canon lens?
thanks

Where is Scott Sewell when you need him You shouldn't have to make any corrections, I used this lens is the past and really liked it.

FWIW,
i have owned several copies of that glass. mine were the original versions. the zoom range is the reason that i tried more than one copy. i really liked that aspect of the lens.
however, every copy i owned either front or back focused at least half of the time. each was sent to sigma w/o correction success.
i just finally gave up and went to big white primes and have had zero focus grief. i was shooting w/ 1D Mk II bodies at
that time. also, again, fwiw... i use a sigma 70-200 2.8 that has had no issues at all.

Another option would be the 70-200/2.8 IS II along with the 1.4x
With the excellent high ISO ability of the 1DX, you can probably live without the extra stop and by all accounts, the IQ of that combo is VERY good.

I have the Sigma 120-300 F2.8 OS. I use it on a 7D, I've only had the one copy and have had no problems with auto-focus accuracy.

According to their page for this lens, DXOMark are planning to test and review it in September, so if you can wait you might find the results of that to be of interest (or not, depending on your view on DXOMark lens tests).

I have the 120-300 F2.8 OS Sigma lens and use it with my 5D3. I took it on safari in Zambia recently and it performed wonderfully on more than 5000 photos.

I highly recommend that lens.

If it had weather sealing equivalent to the Canon 300 2.8 then I would own one right now, but I do too many outside sports that play in rain or shine where I need the rain sealing. Great lens.
