My SB900 will not power on. Before I send it in to Nikon, is there anything I should check? It worked just fine the last time I used it, maybe a month ago. It sat on a shelf (with rechargeable batteries in it) and today, nothing. I tried 3 sets of batteries; I put the last set in my SB600, which lit up just fine.

The contacts look pristine.

I'm hoping for a "duh" solution, but it's just a flash unit -- there aren't' THAT many controls for me to forget about ....

OK, something is funky with the connection. I can get it to turn on with the battery door partly open, but not with it closed.

(Later, edit) It's intermittent now. I can sometimes get it to work by squeezing the battery door a bit. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I've never had this issue before.

Just to follow up: I called APS. They confirmed that they have seen this happen (ok, not usually from sitting on a shelf!) and can fix it. Off it goes.
