p.1 #1 · What's the best Shot you took so far this year?

We're well past the half way point and I'm curious what frequent posters here feel have been their best shot this year.

Please try to add a sentence or two of where you took it and the circumstances surrounding it.

Here's my submission, I hope to take a better shot later when I go on my Eastern European tour.

I risked life and limb with tripod and Lee filters on Extremely slippery coastal mossed up rocks and actually fell hard twice. Thankfully I decided to damage my physical body and not my camera since the camera can't mend itself. It was taken on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. In the second picture you can see the conditions although I took that iphone photo while the camera was pointed the other way.

On the third image you can see where it was taken precisely.

This is my best shot this year. 5D, Contax 50/1.4 @ f/11. There are no special circumstances surrounding the pic. We had the edges of typhoon bring some interesting weather (and a lot of rain) through a couple of days before I took it. The sky is always a bit livelier after a typhoon passes, hence the need to get out there while the gettin's good.

It's a bit tough to see, but the buildings on the left side of the pic are circled on the map.
