I recently got my 135L, used. works great, dead sharp, great condition. only thing is there's the tiniest amount of play when the lens is mounted on the camera. it's almost nothing... you can't even see it move, but I can feel it shift a bit if I twist the lens a bit. maybe I'm just completely OCD... is this ok? I mean it must be a fraction of a millimeter

A little bit of twisting (rotational) play is not a problem - I'm talking 1mm or so. Any play that lets you rock top to bottom or side to side though is a problem.

Yes, that is perfectly fine.

p.1 #5 · play in lens mount?

All of my lenses have varying amounts of play on my 5D2 and a bit less on my 7D.
Has anyone noticed much tighter fit with the new 5D3?
My 5D2 always has a bit of play with all my lenses, but my new 5D3 is much tighter with no play at all.

My 70-200 f2.8 II has a very nominal amount of back and forth movement, when I first got it I thought it was farmed, so I sent it back to B&H and they sent another brand new one and the same occurred. It is the only lens of my 15 or so with this "slack", but the results from it are too good to argue with. Does the same on my 5D mkII and 5D mkIII, as well as my 7D.

I think it can be viewed as normal tolerance. At least I tolerate it :-)

They will all have a bit of play in the mount, you just need to turn the small ones a bit harder to notice it.
