More context space, such as some room to drive into would be a plus.

Is the sharpening done any better than the bike shots? ...Jefferson

Sharpening looks fine to me. I don't see halos.

Thanks, I kept it somewhat of a tight crop as the bike shots were tight, and applied less sharpening...after croping...I seem to have a tendency to over sharpen and it shows more on tight crops...shooting with a 300 FL, even on a 1.6 body...is a bit of a stretch at that location on the track...

+1 @ too tight for the comp/crop. Also, might consider more space above the car rather than below the car.

Where was that taken on the course? I was shooting from the infield, looks like you were shooting from the outside of the course.

I changed the way I was doing my sharpening so I wanted to keep a tight crop the way the bike shots were...

Like the toning.
Agree with the others about the sharpness and crop.

Giving extra breathing room at the top of the frame definitely helps. Great use of sepia type toning as well. Fits the feel very well.

The tight crop would work better as part of a sequence in which wider shots showing more context are seen first.

The panning created a nice feeling off speed. But the centered composition works against that by making the car seem static. Putting more space in front or behind the car would create the impression it is either coming or going.
