p.1 #1 · Midas touch

The shots below are from White Draw area in Southern Arizona.
There is a special light around winter solstice time, when sun shines at very low angle so every peck of dust and every blade of grass are touched with gold hues.

1. In the morning

2. In the evening

2. Azure and gold

C&C welcome.

I think 1 and 2 are really cool. I love the sharp reed tips in the top right of #1... my eye keeps being drawn to them. In #2, I might crop some off both the top and bottom

I'd like 1 & 3 way more if the swimming coots were at rule-of-thirds intersections. I think the top of two should be cropped so that there's nothing showing beyond the green field; the bottom, possibly also, but not as important as the top.

Hey Sasha,

#1 is very different. Nice. In #2, I would also crop off the top so that none of the background is showing. In #3, I would crop some off the top.

Matt, Ernie and Jim, thank you for the comments and critique.
I tried to crop #2 and 3 per suggestions, but I like #3 in original version more.

Here is re-work (contrast and saturation increased)
1.

2.

3.

The first is nice and you might want to move your subject out of the center, at least give the coot more space in the direction it is facing. The second is a beauty. Removing about 1/8 from the right and maintaining the frame ration while removing from the top will bring more focus on the reads and birds.

Morris, thank you for suggestions, I agree that the compositions are not perfect.

Hey Sasha,

I really like your edits. I think in each of them, they do look really nice now. Good work on going back and working them a bit more.
