p.1 #1 · Question about PocketWizards...

I currently have a 580EX flash and would like to know what i need to do to use it as a single off camera flash? I am wanting to use it for some evening shoots and don't want to lug around my whole light kit if possible.

Do you absolutely need ETTL?

If you mostly shoot manual, I'd suggest looking at the Phottix Strattos II's.

If you don't need eTTL, Then i would either get some pocketwizard Plus, Plus II's, or Plus III's (the Plus III's are prob the best choice), OR, everyone seems to like the Phottix Strattos units...or CyberSyncs....then go get some cables from FlashZebra.com, and get everything hooked up....

+1

I love my phottix triggers/receivers. I was expecting poor knock off quality, but was really impressed when I opened them. They have a solid, high quality look and feel to them

I picked up a very cheap Hahnel flash/camera remote for just 60 Euros. Works everytime.

cybersync, radiopopper jrx, phottix, pocketwizard. Tons of good solutions out there.

I use the JRx setup because I can use it to control my studio strobes too.

Since Pocketwizard dropped the prices on the Plus III, they'd have my vote.

I have a really hard time supporting a company (Phottix) that makes all their money off stolen IP and reverse engineered knock-offs. Not saying they're bad quality or anything, but I have a problem with them on principle.

I owned a few Cybersyncs and they work just fine. The build quality isn't anything impressive, but they get the job done.

I like buying products that work properly and have great customer service.
