p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · D800 with Nikkor 35-70/2.8D?

So, I will be simplifying my camera gear quite alot and I'm interested of going with D800 and 35-70/2.8D as a general kit combined with uwa prime and possibly some fast tele like 105/2 D or 85/1.8G.

The question is, how's the corner perfomance of 35-70 on high resolution ff body? I will be using it mostly on lanscapes and studio half body portraits f5.6 to f11, but I'm also interested how it performs wide open.

Thanks
Sami

YOu mighg check photozone. another alternative is the tamron 28-75mm 2.8 I manot a real fan of the sigma 24-70mm HSM for the corners.

Photozone test lenses by shooting test charts at 1 meters, doesn't really interest me. And they haven't test the 35-70D anyway. I am not looking for alternatives for 35-70D thanks, I have access for 24-70G when I need more range.

I was just enquiring if anyone has experience from D800 and 35-70/2.8D combo.

Shot the 35-70 for 6 months on my d3x. The lens was not so great wide open but stoped down to 3.2 it really sharpened up in the center. Stopped down from f4-f8 where I shot this lens the most it was incredibly sharp in the center and very good in the corners. Nice little lens if I still owned it I would use it primarily for landscape or studio work.

It's a great lens that is equally as sharp as the 28-70 and 24-70 wide open. It isn't as sharp at the 70mm range as the 24-70 or 28-70 but between 35-60 it does shine really well. I find myself relatively confused with who would want to buy the other two lenses when they honestly cost a small fortune in comparison.
