B&H has the new version II 11-16 on their site for 739. No actual information on the lens yet. I'm not sure how it will compare optically to the original, hopefully it's the same since I really don't want to upgrade.

I know it has a new AF system which I really don't care about.

In theory it should have new coating that reduce flares. I recently started using Tokina 16-28 who is newer than 11-16 and so far it seems to me it flares less in pretty similar conditions, but I can't prove this scientifically.

I don't want to upgrade either

I dunno, I think the 11-16 handles flare pretty well. And I agree, no one will upgrade as there can't be any significant improvements.

So far I like the 16-28 a lot. Same feeling on FF than the 11-16 on a crop, even better. It's just heavy and bulky.

Been thinking of replacing my 17-40 with the 16-28, we'll see though.

Unless the new 11-16 is actually sharper I won't bother upgrading, that's the only thing that might get me to do it.

If you like the 11-16, you would love the 16-28 too. Great IQ, somewhat faster AF than the 11-16, great in low light. There is something special about these two lenses that is very hard for me to explain... They are just fun to use

Keep in mind the 16-28 can't accept filters that easily.

I tried a friend's copy (Mk I of course) and it could not hold a candle next to my 10-22.

Glad to see Tokina still making great wide angle lenses. My Tokina 12-24 was my absolute favorite lens when I shot a crop Canon body...and I owned that lens longer than I think I've owned any other lens. Amazing build quality and great optics.
