p.1 #1 · Went tonight and picked up D800 *PICS*

Originally had D800E on order at amazon. Canceled because it was going to take over 2 months. Ordered D800E at local place, which was going to take 2 weeks...

Went to NEX (Navy Exchange) and picked up D800 for 2996 out the door...
Figured I saved right at 600... because E was going to cost 3300 plus 300 sales tax...
I have 45 days to return it and got a 4 year any issues throw it in water and we will replace it for 99 dollars.

So we will see how I like it.

I will post pics and my review.

I played with a 5D Mk3 I can honestly say the MK3 felt lighter and slightly smaller and was more comfortable in the hand... I know nikon's system better so that seemed easy to get used to. The MK3 also seemed to auto focus faster but it had an L lens on it and the nikon a cheap 10-24.

I could hear the slight shake in the Flash but was so vauge and you have to really shake it so thats a NON ISSUE really because the lanyard holders will make much more noise lol.

I will let you all know how i like it.

i have 50 1.4 G lens and Sigma 150-500

It was really tempting to switch to Canon because all my friends and EVERY professional i know in Hawaii uses Canon...
But at the same time, this made me want to use the Nikon.
I really wanted the E version... but we will see. I think the D800 will do just fine.

I am going to sell my D7000 and 35 1.8 and 18-105 lens with B+W filters on them has less than 6k actuations lol

First of all, congrats on getting a D800!!

That's funny about your friends and professionals shooting Canon... all my friends who are shooting Canon would LOVE to, and have been lusting to, switch to Nikon... too bad they have too much invested in glass, and couldn't financially make the switch.

Is it financially prohibitive to keep the D7k? It's still a great camera to have around for 1) lighter days, 2) great back-up or second camera, or 3) longer reach! (I guess a 15mp DX cropped file on D800 makes point #3 a little moot..)

i have 50 1.4 G lens and Sigma 150-500
The longest lens I have for my D800e is 300mm. I havebeen toying on the idea of the Sigma 150-500. Please let us knowhow the combination works out. I would be using it for large wading birds here (egrets, etc).

Congrats.... I am hoping to get mine by the end of next week.... I had to put off getting one for a month or so, because an unexpected car expense came up.

Hopefully I will get some pictures up in the next few days.

I will let ya know how the Sigma works with the D800, I will also post some pictures I took with it on D7000.

Yeah, if you all know anyone in the military....

Get some great deals on base!!!

I might go up to Stairway to Heaven this week

So I will get some pictures from up there.

I could keep the D7k But I would rather just sell it and let someone else enjoy it.

I am a Network Engineer, so this is just fun for me, and a way of helping my friends with their Surf Sponsorship's and modeling portfolios.

Not sure what that is supposed to show, the photo is of little use to display the performance of the D800.
