p.1 #1 · optimising photos for printing at say, Walgreens or photodirect

I'm aware there's a contrast change from digital to paper -- does this mean I should overshoot contrast a little before sending digital photos to the printer? I have yet to print photos taken with my DSLR.

I have maybe printed from Walgreens twice so far, and my experiences tell me to increase contrast slightly on the pictures sent for print.

All post processing should begin with monitor calibration so that you have a consistent base from which to compare. That applies to whether you're producing for the web or printing -- by a lab or yourself.

There's a lot you can get just from the link to the "Workflow' guidelines at the top of this page.
