p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Inside the World Trade Center & Tribute (large post)

This is my small way of paying tribute to the lives tragically lost last year. Sorry for the size, and also if you've seen it elsewhere.

Inside the World Trade Center, December 2000 (Sony F505V).

The quality of these photos isn’t great – they were taken shortly after I purchased my F505V – the first camera I’ve owned that had more controls than a shutter button. Difficult conditions and extreme “newbie” behind the lens. I hope those of you who had never been inside the buildings will appreciate them anyway.

Elevator Panel

This was just one of those shots you take on a whim -- a routine ride in the elevator. I never imagined this image would become so haunting.

Wild Blue Yonder

This was one of the restaurants on the 107th floor. In the last year, I’ve often wondered if any of the people that served us that evening were among the victims.

My first pano with the F505V + Panorama Factory.

Larger Version (2056x419 670KB)

I was pleased with this first attempt at a pano using Panorama Factory, but knew I could do better with some experience and a better tripod. My new tripod was on order at the end of August 2001. Never got the chance to re-do this scene.

Tribute in Light, March 11, 2002 (D30/Sigma 70-200)

This photo was taken moments after the “Tribute” lights were illuminated for the first time, on the 6th month anniversary of the attack. This was used by the Trenton/Princeton Times as the full page cover in their WTC memorial section, Sunday Sept 8, 2002.

The “Tribute” gallery contains some other images from inside the building, two other panoramas taken prior to Sept 11, and two shots from the air on approach into Newark Airport Sept 15, 01 (Yes, I was stranded out of town for several days last September.) http://www.pbase.com/abh/wtctribute

March/April 2002, various shots of Lower Manhattan, including several panoramas.

God bless America, and our friends throughout the world.
