Genuinely like these genuine people.

Tell me something you like and something you dont like about this set.

I like the fact the candids look very much that they were shot fly on the wall.

BUT

I do like to see portraits of the couple where the photographer has had more control of the situation.

Lovely work guys... what was the venue? You weren't very far from me.

For me I got really into it at the reception, thats when it really came together for me. So much action, demonstrates that having a slow shutter doesn't describe action as well as good timing does.

Nits:
2&3 would have benefited from a little straightening and in Also in #9 I think her arm looks disproportionately bigger because of her proximity to the camera. I would have cropped so that the bottom left hand corner was inside the arm, I feel it would strengthen the comp too.
16 screams pano to me.
21, 23 & 26 FTW
Where is the grooms hand going in 24 top right??

for you, chuck

1. like the lower angle-like the timing and the eyes slightly raised to be sure he gets it "just right"

3 & 5. cut from the same cloth-great layering-it's well-controlled-3 is much more subdued while 5 is more interactive so don't find it redundant

6. surprised this one doesn't quite do it for me-can see exactly what you were going for-like the use of foreground chicks to frame the others and the movement with motion blur-but the one expression in the background isn't strong enough by itself to "make" up for the rest-it's an almost for me

8. great expressions, obviously-maybe slightly bring down the bright foreground so that it doesn't compete with your subjects-otherwise, very nice

9. nice-assuming you already had her in focus before this happened? nicely planned

10. whimsical-without the beers to the right, this would be one-dimensional-well done

13. really nice moment

19. warm this up a tiny bit? flash is a bit cool

21. 100% perfect expressions

23. money, man-you do this so well-perfect timing-one second on either side of this wouldn't have been as strong

26. i can feel it as if i were with them-the slower shutter makes sense here

Is 3 not straight? I like the set, I think your B&W is great here. I would have liked to see the color mixed in more. I think it would created more of an impact, at least for me. Overall, solid as a rock.

I think you some of your stronger shots visually from others you posted before Chuck. 3, 6, 9, 13.... just amazing and work very well. The venue doesn't look all that great, but you did great overall. I know you prefer more of C&C, but I'll let someone who's better qualified (like Mr. Shaw) make those comments.

a lot of good stuff going on here.

#6 reminds me of "where the wild things are"

you posted 8 before and I still think it's really good.

the framing and focus is really good on 9, do you think the girl on the left would mind her arm looking so big (I don't care about these things, but it seems like clients may, so I'm trying to look out for them).

13. Is a great moment.

19. the color seems off a bit. b/w?

fun dancing shots, 2 really stands out. great timing.

I love that when this showed up in my google reader that I instantly knew you shot it, before I even saw your name on it. I love all the moments, and all the angles. 15 is a bit extreme, but not enough that I'd lose it. I guess I'm the odd one out that I don't care for 9 or 26. On 9 I just so want to see more of the woman crying and less stuff cutting into her. 26 is just a little too blurred for me, or not enough, I can't decide.

Like:
Your B/Ws.
8-10 are really good representations of your take on getting ready.
If they are doing the Kid n Play House Party dance in 6, then I love that photo.
21 and 23 are nailed re: timing

I like that 16 makes the place look quite elegant. I would like to see a tiny CCW rotation and maybe a crop off the top to a 2:1.
I think if there was something a bit sharper in 26 to anchor the movement I would like it more.

Like: 26 - it's immersive - makes me feel like I'm trying to find my hotel room after too much to drink and happen upon the perfect moment - or what would be the perfect moment if i weren't too far gone to appreciate it.

Don't Like: the black eye that the groom is going to get for #24... and maybe would like to see the bride appear more than once within the 13 dancing shots.

Like: the set overall.

Dislike: all the dance shots seem close and at the same FL. (kind of goes for a lot of others, although it works for most)

There are several winners in this set; but overall, it's just not the best of your work. Honestly though, I cannot place my finger on the difference. Processing seems a tad inconsistent. Some scream that typical Chuck-Style, but some are off. Are Chris' files from a different cam or manufacturer?

All that aside, the following rock hard: 7-13, 16.

19 needs some WB TLC.

That's just my take. I'm no rock-star though.

BTW, this is my attempt at better C&C.

Hey dude -

Here are my reactions:
1. Nice framing
4. & 7 nice light, I kind of wish this had been exploited throughout more of the getting ready.
5. I would def include in the take but not sure about blogging it. This is more of a record of who is there than a moment.
6. Fun
8. - 10 fantastic!
12. I've been finding fake eyelash images kind of scary lately.
13. Fantastic
15. Yeah it's cool because of the handshake but this is not flattering for her.
19-21 could use some more processing love
21. Funny!
22. I'd probably just pick one of those.

I too yearn for some varied focal lengths. You can further show yourself as a storyteller by picking out and drawing our attention to otherwise unnoticed details or expressions.

For the dance floor stuff, it looks a little muddy from the shoulders down and a little hot on the foreheads. Seems like this needs more power from on-camera bounced over your shoulder and stopped down a little to keep that pink from creeping in as much. The uplighting in the background brought down a bit to create texture plus clean soft(er) light on the foreground plus a little pop from the OCF would have been killer.
