Yes my body is silver!! Reckon silver in cameras is like red in car - Blonde girls here in US never buy red cars - they say they all break down!!

My serial # is BF 3503855 - the previous one was "854" - maybe there is a problem with a batch!

Mine acts just like yours!! I am anxious to know how yours turns out!

bleh My first 4 digits are 35033 not 35038. Still if a batch were 1000 camera then yea it could be..... It'll be 1 to 2 weeks before I know what olympus has to say; so i'll wait till then. btw if you try a third camera and it works but has a similar serial # drop a note or pm

Deadwolfbones, I love the third shot. Not only does the food look great to me, evidently it looks good to the pup in the background too!

Wide angles tend to get a bit less use from me, but its time will come.

Not bad you say, I want to sell the 70-200 II and get the 100-300 for my Dslr...

Seriously, it is much sharper than the 70-200 II

hmm, me thinks the 70-200 II is the sharpest zoom on the planet.

A well-calibrated Sigma 100-300 f/4 probably gives it a run for the money.

'Well-calibrated' being the tricky part

Also, the crusty Tamron 70-200 2.8 also gives it some competition.

Canon's 70-200 2.8 is probably one of the sharpest and best-performing zooms overall, but there *are* other zooms that can come close (or match) the IQ if we're just talking sharpness.

Seriously? No ... not even close! It cannot even compete with the 100-400L or 70-300L. The 70-200L II is a class above the other L zoom lenses. It's in the same league as the L primes. The 100-300 may be as good as a Canon consumer-grade zoom lens.

I do most of my major tonal and contrast corrections as a color image and then a pretty straight B&W conversion using Silver Efex. From there it is localized enhancements to specific details using Viveza and/or Color Efex filters. I tend to spend a lot of time on little things in the images and experiment till I get the look I want. Most of the time I could no more repeat what I did on a complex image than I could fly.

I've heard good things about Silver Efex. I have the whole Nik package but have not only used Viveza 2. I need to check on the Silver Efex tutorial.

I figured it was a Silver Efex conversion (I've never gotten B&W conversions that can approach what you've done there without using Silver Efex). I've been using Silver Efex 2 for a while now, and it has dramatically increased the quality of my B&W conversions. I too use it in conjunction with Color Efex 4 quite often. Great to layer the two from time to time.
