Very nice images Bobby. The Panasonic 7-14mm is really a great little lens. Not long ago I was lugging the Canon 5D Mark II plus the Nikon 14-24mm around (with adapter). It produced beautifully sharp images. But it also pulled my shoulder down. I am 61 now and I enjoy the lightweight OM-D system now.

Thank you! Yes, that lens is very sharp across the frame. But the CA, flare, and purple blobs is getting to me. I can't wait to trade up to the Zuiko 7-14/2.8 PRO.

Some night-time images at the Plaza Garibaldi - the mariachi mecca.

Zuiko 7-14/2.8 PRO

I am interested in that one, too. Wonder what the price tag will be.

Awesome shots. That 17 1.8 looks great. I was considering purchasing my first prime lens to add to the 12-50 kit lens - the new oly 25 or the pana leica 25, but your shots have me adding the 17mm oly to that list. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Steve! I am actually selling my 17/1.8, 25/1.4, and 45/1.8 to fund the 42.5/1.2 Nocticron … so if you are interested in buying any of these lenses please PM me. Honestly between the Zuiko 25/1.8 and the PL 25/1.4 I would get the Zuiko. Although I have not used that lens myself, I believe it's almost as good as the Panasonic version, for less money.

Wow, Bobby, I think I saw your listing on the for sale forum. Are you parting ways with the omd, too? It sure appears it's working well for you.

Early reports are very favorable for the new oly 25mm, but it looks like a great lens.

No, I am not parting ways with the OM-D. I am rationalizing my lens line-up for my E-M1. I think the Zuiko PRO line of lenses are very good and I want every one of them, plus a couple of fast lenses like the 42.5/1.2 and 75/1.8. I may keep the 17/1.8 as I am liking that lens more and more. It makes a great standard lens for me - I was never a fan of the 25mm (50mm) focal length.

My only wish/hope right now is for Olympus to give us a better/cleaner sensor (as good as the Fuji X-T1) with a faster C-AF tracking ability. I think it will happen … hopefully sooner rather than later … perhaps in 2015 when the 40-150/2.8 and 300/4 lenses are scheduled to be released.

To me the perfect couple is M43 + FF. I don't get M43 + APS, or APS + FF, but of course it's just me

I'm also figuring out lenses and I'm honestly just waiting for the PL15mm F1.7, I have a feeling I'll prefer that rendering style over the Oly 17mm.

It's really inconvenient for me that I love Olympus bodies but seem to prefer Panasonic lenses in general.

I am a big fan of FF sensors. And I will admit it … I did follow the A7r camera with great interest - but so many things are not right, for me. The sensor is just fine but the camera has a lot of quirks and issues. More importantly, the lenses are not there … and I have a dislike for MF lenses. And besides, FF lenses are big and heavy. I moved away from a FF Canon to m43 because of the size and weight. I am not gaining much if I switch to a smaller body but the lenses still remain big and heavy. The new M. Zuiko PRO lenses are as big and heavy as I will tolerate. For example, the Zuiko 300/4 is very hand-holdable; the Canon 600/4 is not.

I have both the E-M1 and the A7. The IQ of the Sony is better, but I still think that the E-M1 is the more responsive and enjoyable camera to use. Better ergonomics, faster AF, touchscreen (touch shutter + very quick placement of the focus point), IBIS, higher burst rate, softer shutter,...

More enjoyable and fun to use is exactly right. The DSLR was (to me) a very portable, responsive, and fun camera to shoot with … but it has become very obese and I am no longer as strong and fit as I used to be. Enter, the E-M1 … a Baby DSLR … responsive and fun to shoot with and at no risk of breaking your back.

"Baby DSLR" is a good description. That's how I see it in my current gear kit.
