leo11877,
I think the 12-50 would be a much better walk around lens than the 14-150. Right now in the m43 system there are only two zoom lens that really stand out. They are the Panasonic 12-35mm and 35-100mm. They are very expensive. All the other m43 zooms are good but not great. I can't remember if you already have the OMD or are soon to buy one? If you are buying it, getting he 12-50mm as the kit lens is a no brainer. Do it. If you already have the OMD I would get the Panasonic 20mm or the Panasonic 25mm and the Oly 45mm and zoom with your feet.
I am sure what ever decision you make you will have great time taking photographs with the OMD. I sure do.

Thanks for the advice. I got an used OMD body today. there are a couple of cheap 12-50mm available. I think for the macro alone they are worth it. I did like the 40-150mm and 14-150mm even though they are no fast. I agree on the F/2.8 Zooms. Hopefully more better Zooms will be released. Hell, Sigma needs to release the 18-35mm F/1.8 MFT version

I have a Zeiss F Mount 1.4 and a Canon FL 55 as primes right now. Will play with those once I get the body. If I dont like the output of those, I will get the 45mm 1.8.

I have a Canon background and would be missing the cheap L (F/4) Lenses on the OMD but the prime make up for those

Thanks all for the input on the 12-50mm. I think I will pass (atleast as a walkaround lens).

Would the Oly 14-150mm a good walk around lens?

Buy the 12-50 instead, it's better.

Yes Bobby, it's the lenses that I wish Olympus would improve on. Granted, there are some really stellar primes (and I have a few), but where I feel they are really lacking is on the wide-angle side, both primes and zooms. I'd go for the 7-14 but the show-stopper for me is the natural inability (ie, no "rigged" apparatus) to accept filters. I shoot a ton of landscapes too and use ND filters as part of my kit.

Don't expect to get 14mm equivalence and filter compatibility. I'm not currently aware of any zoom that wide that accepts filters. The 14-24 certainly doesn't and IIRC neither the Sigma 12-24 nor the 8-16 do.

The olympus 9-18mm in both MFT and FT will accept filters. Of course they're not 14mm...

I've seen some slick Panasonic 7-14mm filter holders. THe only reason I haven't bought that lens is that there seems to be a purple blob issue on Olympus sensors.

From what I can tell, the FT version is a bit better than the MFT which makes sense when you consider they cover the same image circle at nearly the same aperture and the FT version has a lot more glass in front of it.

I've not used my OMD for some time so I've not been checking out this thread. Some great images over the last few pages;
Juju, Bobby, Monk, Duke, Fly, Carl, Mawz; lovely stuff ...

Back ground story is that a pretty tall and well built black man fainted and fall on this lady like a log injuring her leg. They pull us into the next station to easier off load her onto the ambulance while taking the train out of service and causing quite a crush for a normally quiet station on the Yonge subway line in Toronto.
