I like to shoot birds and I am going to Key West, Florida for a business meeting the week of July 9. Can anyone give some advice on where I should target for some good opportunities. I have up to a 500mm so any specific recommendations for gear to take along is appreciated as well. Thanks for any ideas.
While you can do some birding on any of the keys, the premier place in Southern Florida is Everglades National Park and that is about a 3 hour drive. The first trail in the park is the Anhinga Trail and one of my favorite places to take bird photos.
Another option would be to rent a boat and go further west to Dry Tygundus National Monument which is a small key with an old fort on it. The birding, is good as is the fishing and snorkeling.
This time of year it will be hot, humid and buggy.
