A couple of weeks ago I traveled to Shenandoah N.P. to try and find some fawns but I didn't have much luck with them. As a nice consolation I found this nest. The youngster was not shy about calling for food. There were at least 3 in the nest but one was pretty aggressive and hogged the view most of the time. I went back last weekend and as I expected they had fledged and were nowhere to be seen. Only a little Downy.
A very nice set Mike. I like them all. Around what mile post did you find the nest? Where were you looking for fawns? I have found them reliably in and around Big Meadows. Shoot me a pm some time when you are going, and maybe we can meet up ~ Ron
Edit to add that I have heard that the number of fawns is down because of an increase in the coyote population.

Thanks Ron. These were taken at Big Meadows. The dead tree was close to the tree-line on the left in the area the old camp used to be. I went back last weekend and there was very little activity and I went 3 weekends in row and each one was slower than the last so I don't think I'll be going back for a while.
