Evening all!

Debating whether or not to put this in my online portfolio, I love the storytelling aspect of it, and the guy was a COMPLETE legend, but I don't know whether it's obvious to someone who wasn't there what's actually going on.

So it's being thrown to the FM...crowd (I nearly said hounds)

Opinions please ladies and what passes for gentlemen round here.

It's a nice picture, but personally I don't know what's going on. I do the same thing a lot...I get attached to a photo because of the backstory but then it's lost on viewers who weren't there.

thanks dhp, that's basically what I worried about, I love it but was very concerned it was a "you had to be there" moment.

It looks odd, not obvious what the (out of focus) women are meant to be doing. Blacks have lost detail and are grey but maybe that's how you want it.

Hey Mark,

Your monitor must be a lot darker than mine, the lady on the right's cardi maybe has blocked shadows, but everything else has plenty of shadow detail on my screen.

I'd venture to say your screen's a little on the bright side then. I agree with Mark FWIW. Blacks and shadows are pretty saturated.

Not sure it's a brightness thing, it's the lack of detail in the women on the right's clothing I noticed.

Yeah I definitely see that, I guess it just didn't really bother me, certainly not enough to lift the rest of the photo, I like my monos punchy.

OK, as it's been a few hours.....

I shall explain why I love it.

Basically the 2 women are having a natter/chinwag (a talk to you Americans!) basically through him, have made him lean forward so they can communicate, and he's giving me a look that was basically "tut, women eh? What can you do?"
