If you put two dslrs next to each other maybe you get 3D!!!!!
In all seriousness that it totally possible. I have a buddy that does custom components. He can take a wired trigger and split it to work on two cameras at the same time. Put two cameras side by side at slightly different angles set up on a single tripod. Take the picture with the trigger. You now have two photos so not only do you instantly have a backup photo but, with a simple effect in Photoshop and those blue and red glasses, you'll have a perfect 3D image.
As silly as it sounds this is how all new technologies start. Maybe one day 3D wedding photos may be a reality. I started in this business doing video. Back then we used SVHS cameras, followed by DV tape, then followed by DSLRS. Now burning to blu-ray is now big deal. 3D is the next step in the evolution.
By the way, I am not totally serious but the idea of it seems pretty interesting.
