A nice first set Michael. Be careful though - wildlife photography can be addictive... My picks are 2 and 4 ~ Ron

Thanks, #2 is by far my favorite, I actually got a marmot on that same rock looking back through the set. Wildlife is kinda a natural photo branch since I have only been working with domestic, exotic, and ranch animal - portraiture and sports to this point. Yeah, addictive, to be honest... I was just adding the Sigma 150-500mm to my wish-list right as you submitted your response. I actually shot this set with only a 24-70mm f/2.8; I will be getting the 70-200mm f/2.8 this week. I am still torn between getting a used vr I (with tons of other needed odds and ends) or the vr II. I am a very new photographer (8 months) with a major photo-bug/ addiction, so I am kinda building my kit from scratch.

Bravo for getting these with a 24-70 lens. These must be fairly tame goats.

Very tame... actually the baby came down, cornered me against the wall I was sitting on and touched my shoe with it's nose, momma was less than pleased... I was frozen, except when I turned my head away saying I wasn't interested in eating the baby. Photos were taken on Mount Evans, where the mountain goats regularly intermingle with the tourist in the parking lot, the norm was 10-20 feet. Saw some big horned sheep, but they were waaaaaay out of range, even at 200mm, might have gotten good shots with a 2x tc.

Nice set! #2 and 4 stand out because of the situation the goats are in. Well done.

They are, I will probably head back up once I get my 70-200mm, maybe I'll catch those big horns again... I also have a trip planned for the Rocky Mountain Arsenal.

Nice set of images with a great scenic lens You'll like your 70-200 I would get the IS version if I could afford it especially for wildlife shooting. I have had both and the non I/s is very sharp but its tough at times hand holding with wildlife on the move. I purchased a Monopod with legs that helped a lot when I didn't want to lug my tripod around.

I plan on picking up a monopod as one of my next purchases, about a week and a half. I shoot Nikon, so my biggest issue that I am trying to work out is the vr i verses vr ii versions of the lens.
