p.1 #1 · Direct attach RRS B2-40 LR quick release clamp to a monopod?

Hi all,

I've never really had a need to pop a lens off a monopod quickly, so I've always just screwed it in directly.

I am changing things up and trying out a Nikon 200-400, both handheld and on a monopod. I'd like to be able to use the RRS quick release clamp, but I don't see a simple way to attach it directly. I tried the manfrotto 3232 swivel head, but it doesn't seem up to the task. I don't need the swivel feature, it was just to get the clamp on.

My LR clamp is not threaded, my Gitzo monopod has a reversible 3/8-1/4 stud.

Any clever solutions from the FM community?

If 3/8 then the following should do....

Don't know what to do to adapt your current RRS LR clamp, but if you're looking to purchase a new one, here's one that"s threaded:

you can go the threaded RRS/Kirk/etc/etc clamp route directly spun on the 3/8 threaded stud

or a 1/4" countersunk threaded SS bolt long enough to thread well into the MP's threading and a 3/8" to 1/4 SS insert" remove the stud but put some friction tape down on the platform and direct screw down.

or you can option for a more "usable" rig by either RRS or Kirk.

great idea, thanks!

RRS shipping is $5 for the $5 part - any better options?

I did a fair amount of research on this recently, probably the best deal you'll find around. The advantage of ordering it directly from RRS is that you KNOW it will work, whereas ordering it from an online store it SHOULD work.
