Windows 7 x64 sees my D800 as "unknown device" and ViewNX2 does not recognize it. The camera itself, when connected via USB, lets the metering sensor run indefinitely and will not enter image playback mode or live-view. What am I missing here? The camera is updated to the latest firmware, and ViewNX2 was just downloaded from Nikon's website.
But, FYI, I am running Windows 7 64-bit also and have the most recent version of NX2 installed and it has no trouble seeing my D800 and D800E SD cards inserted into the computer and my CF cards run through a card reader.
I am using Windows 7 x64, and I have no problems using a card reader on cards from the D800E, but I haven't tried connecting it directly. If no one else can help I could give it a try.
Do you want to download the photos (I'd use a card reader), or are you wanting to tether?
Tried the D800 on a machine running Windows XP with no software; worked fine. It seems there is a common problem with the MTP USB drivers in 7; cell phone users experience the error as well. Have been searching on google for an hour now, none of the suggested resolutions have worked, though I haven't tried the most drastic one of reinstalling the entire OS...
