Every year I head to the Oregon Coast for a week or so vacation. One of the subjects that I usually photograph there are Pigeon Guillemots as it there mating season. To watch there antics is so much fun, they really are characters and full of personality. This year was just about a bust as it was stormy almost the whole week I did get 30 minutes or so one morning with some light. I was hoping to capture some mating behavior that I witnessed last year. I did get lucky and got some shots of it. What happens is when a couple are mating a second male will try to get in to act with the mating couple. I don't know if this just so he can mate or if there is a real strategy such as if he can pass his dna then the other male spends his time bringing up the intruders offspring. This way the intruder can pass on his genes to more females? Just a guess at this point.
