Stunning detail Scott, and the people give a great sense for the scale of the buildings.

That's very cool, Scott. Great amount of detail without appearing overly sharpened and great timing with the light.

So, don't take this a comment on the shot, but I have to ask, did you try any panos while you were up there?

I would put it on this shot. Stitching is a great idea for this.
I'd love to see the rest of the structure, especially in this light and with the wonderful detail shown here.

Very Nice Scott. Nice detail and treatment. I went to Paris a long time ago and couldn't go to the Louvre because the museum workers were on strike. This shot makes me remember why I want to go back there.

At first I was thinking a crop from the top would help.
But upon further review, I like the crop as it stands because it gives a better sense of the enormous scale.

Nope. No panos, but that would have been a good idea. Also, I shot this with a 100-400 zoom at 400 and I could have shot wider. Not sure that would have been better, but this is all I got.

Thanks, John.
Agreed about the stitching. Though I have never tried it.

Everything about the museum is part of the museum. From the architectural features and detail work, to the contents, to the bottom level foundation which is exposed to provide more of the "tour".

Hi Chris.
Glad you enjoyed.
Did a bit of a silly tour of the Louvre. I felt like I ran through each exhibition hall, covering all the territory in a day. You cant do it properly that way.

It shouldnt be missed.
But, I have to say I enjoy the overall collection, more manageable size, and different but fantastic architecture of Musee D'Orsay even more. And just across the Seine.

A 400mm zoom at 400mm and you got a final image THIS sharp?
Well, Scott, I am beyond stunned.
Your camera, lens and processing here are other-worldly!
Sidelight helped, but nevertheless this is a magnificent effort.
And I even really like the image itself .
I've seen the Louvre from this perspective- but like you I was looking from the Eiffel Tower- with just my eyes. Not the same size.

It is impressive, isnt it?
Great lens, with IS and able to further stabilize the lens by leaning on a wall. Guess I got the technique maximized.
