p.1 #1 · Zeiss 18mm ZE and Cokin Z-Pro

Does the Zeiss 18mm ZE vignette with the Cokin Z-Pro filter system attached?

From what I've read, it may, but only with a certain number of filter slots installed.

Anyone with particular experience with this set-up care to chime in?

it will simply do a whole lot better with the Lee holder and a SWA adapter ring. on a FF camera boday the Z will start to vignette at about 20mm. the Lee is just a better design overall.

I agree that the Lee is a better option, however no one seems to have any adapter rings in stock.

It's to my understanding that with less than 3 filter slots, the Z-Pro doesn't vignette on the 17-40L (which has a 77mm) thread. Considering the Z-Pro works on a 17mm lens with a 77mm thread, I feel like there might be a possibility it works on a 18mm lens, but with an 82mm thread.

to your understanding was this 17-40 being used on a FF or crop frame camera? with a crop frome you have tons of room.

even the Lee starts to vignette at 17 to 16mm with the SWA adapter ring FF. that ring pulls the holder approx 4-5mm closer to the front element then the Z is even capable of in any config.

i used to shoot canon FF. and owned the 16-35 and the 17-40

The 17-40 was on full frame with the Z-Pro configured for either one or two filters only.

The z pro will work fine, but you have to use the lens adapter in the front of the holder. This makes the lens adapter much like the Lee WA adapters in function with the front of the lens adapter very close to the back of the first filter. In this reference I also removed one of the slots, as I don't use 3 filters at once, but that modification is quite optional, as I was simply trying to compress the thickness of the holder while in the camera bag.

I have the Z-pro, and don't recall any vignetting with either the 17-40 or the 16-35 (especially if you stop down one or two) on a FF. I now have the zeiss 21mm, and it's fine wide open.

What's nice about the Z-pro is that it's reversible, and you can turn it around and just use the single slot at the back. The other nice benefit is that singh ray make a circular polarizer that fits in the rear slot.
