We came across this nest at a WMA lake while on a birding field trip. I've seen my share of ospreys, but never close enough for a photograph so I was happy that this nest was on a pole right out in the open where folks were fishing.
I'm guessing it was the female on the nest and the male bringing lunch. The female called and called before the male showed up with the fish, and then wouldn't take it from him! He was forced to spend lunchtime with a grackle on the other side of the lake.
In the interest of full disclosure, I swapped the sky with one from the next day. The morning of the trip was an overcast mess. Nothing but white. Thanks for looking!
Two for one, not bad!
