p.1 #1 · Price Policing and Overall Buy & Sell Forum Rules
Am I crazy or has there been a marked increase in B&S forum rule violations (esp. price policers). There has also been very little moderator intervention (if any). I have a suggestion for Fred and it might help. How about making the top topic in the forum a sticky with the rules in bold letters stating very clearly that users MUST READ before posting. Maybe it would help?
p.1 #2 · Price Policing and Overall Buy & Sell Forum Rules
I wouldn't say that 'price policing' has suddenly increased...it's always been an occasional issue. You probably (by sheer luck) have seen it recently and it might appear to you to be a 'spike' in frequency but over-all I think it's the same as it has been for quite a while.
As for forum moderation...I always report any 'extreme violation' to the mods and always seen it handled very quickly. Of course, if no one reports it, you can't expect the mods to do anything about it.
A 'bold letter' sticky might be a good thing.
BTW, 'gross violators' of common sense rules earn a place on my 'hidden' list...that way I know to avoid any transaction with them in the future.
p.1 #3 · Price Policing and Overall Buy & Sell Forum Rules
We have many new folks finding their way to the Buy and Sell board, which is a good thing for Fred's bottom line. They are generally the folks who are unaware of the forum rules, having not taken the time to read them in their enthusiasm to buy some cheap camera gear. I always appreciate forum members who will post a comment on the thread noting the policy on price-policing. I have on occasion sent a PM to such folks just to give them a heads up. If their intention is to become a serious member of this website community, they will mend their ways. The jerks could care less, in which case the best way to deal with them is as Omar suggests by hiding their comments. I think I have two members hidden at the moment, not for their behavior on the B&S board but their general boorishness on discussion threads. Life's too short to waste time with jerks...

I'm with Tony... all negotiations are best handled away from the board. A seller should make clear how best he or she should be contacted and the buyer should direct questions and offers through that channel. It is both respectful and it keeps what happens on the thread simple. No need for flame wars when delicate matters are kept private.

how does this board feel about comments such as "OH, GOOD PRICE. WONT LAST LONG" or "EXCELLENT PRICE, IF I HAD MONEY I WOULD BUY"
there are alot of those and it seems a bit distracting to me, but i may be the minority here. if that's fine, then so be it i was just asking since we're on buy/sell rules

I have been guilty of this in the past but it does seem to be on the increase also. Reminds me a little bit of the threads on Yahoo Finance where one guy with twenty aliases pumps up a penny stock.

for my peace of mind...of the little "mind"
that i have, i always ask PM'ers to make a
public post to the thread so i have some idea of the past
B&S history. granted, i have a very small footprint on the
B&S board, but has worked for me.
my 2cents.

BTW, i agree w/CGrindahl about respectful communication and
H*** no to flame wars.
again, just my opinion.

Yes, this is just price policing in a more subtle form. It should be banned, just like comments about the price being too high.
