p.1 #1 · FoCal - Lens Alignment

Wasn't too sure where to put this, but as I'm a Canon user thought it might be best in here. FoCal is a piece of lens alignment software that interfaces with you camera to automate the time consuming AF micro adjust process. I've just posted a video review for anyone that is interested.

In simple terms, I was really impressed and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to improve the quality and speed of their AFMA routine.

Apologies in advance for my wonderful lack of screen presence...

Ah! Good spot. I'll pop the link in the FoCal thread. Sorry!

If a mod could close this thread that'd be great. Cheers!

Still sucks that there is no OS X support.

very disappointed in the software. Using a heavy tripod and studio lighting conditions:

It just calibrated my 85 at 9,6,13 & 15 in subsequent tests.

And my 24-105 comes up at 6,5 and 0 (all at the 105 focal length)

I'm going to see if I can get a refund.

Weird. Mine gave very consistent results with my 5d2 with all the lenses I MA'ed. (85mm 1.2, 24-105, 85mm 1.8, 17-40 and tamron 24-70)

Only way I got different results was by changing focal lenght or shooting distance, but I was told that that was unavoidable.

I couldn't be happier with this software. Much faster than LA or DC, plus the results are very consistent.

Sounds like my experience...
