Nothing but lava flows- but quite interesting to some traveling photographers.

Hi Charlie, I traveled this road one super hot summer afternoon on the way from Pocatello to Sun Valley. I was hoping I would not break down.

I did stop at the visitor center, but did not spend the time to find that really neat lichen covered rock in the last image.

My grand daughter goes here for field trips.

It is really cool in the winter. Never stopped for photos though! I need to. It is only 3 hours away.

Good ones, Charlie. Visited once and enjoyed feeling my way through the lava tubes. I've toured numerous other lava fields, but had never gone into the tubes.

Looks like it might make a really interesting night time 'low key' opportunity.

The last one is just grand. I'll bet a person could get a good half dozen interesting macro shots from that 'rock'.

Good show, Charlie! Don't think I've seen any from this area previously.

Thanks Ben, Ryan, Stan, Fo and Andrew.
We all have varying interests. When given a chance to see California's redwoods, many people say they saw one, once, and "If you see one, you've seen them all."
To each his or her own, of course.
A full day at Craters of the Moon is enough for me, but I've been there three times and always enjoyed it.
The Interstate bypasses it, so people speed on their way to Yellowstone and the Tetons.
Charlie

There are caves you can clamber about in. Take flashlights. I think it's worth spending half a day roaming there.
